Optical turnstiles replace the need for an obtrusive physical barrier by utilising active infra-red beams to create an invisible electronic field between two pedestals, monitoring the passage of every individual entering and leaving a facility. They offer a similar level of security to a 1/2 height turnstile and are designed to alert security staff or the reception team to unauthorised entry attempts by triggering an audible alarm whilst also controlling other security measures such as CCTV systems, lighting and locking doors.
