30 Jun Cairns Aquarium & Reef Research Centre Selects CENTAMAN as POS and Ticketing Provider
In preparation for its launch in September 2017, the new Cairns Aquarium has selected CENTAMAN, the leading supplier of software for the tourism and visitor attractions space, to provide ticketing and point of sale (POS) solutions to manage the aquarium’s operations, including Point of Sale technology for admissions, retail, food and beverage, annual passes, reservations and bookings.
With Australia’s Tropical North already welcoming more than four million tourists each year, the modern, state-of-the-art Cairns Aquarium is set to become Cairns’ largest attraction in one of the world’s most beautiful and sought-after travel destinations.
Once completed, the aquarium will feature more than 3 million litres of salt, fresh and brackish water in 71 live displays to showcase the incredible plants, animals, and habitats found only in Australia’s wet tropics, a region which borders two World Heritage-listed environments, the Daintree Rainforest and the Great Barrier Reef. Several rare, endangered, unusual, and even deadly specimens will be on display.
Currently nearing completion on the corners of Lake, Florence and Abbott Street in Cairns, Queensland, the Cairns Aquarium will comprise of a 16-metre-high, 3 level, 7,500 square-metre aquarium facility, equipped to deliver a unique experience for visitors of all ages.
Daniel Leipnik, Founder & CEO of the Cairns Aquarium, believes that CENTAMAN was the obvious choice for the business.
“CENTAMAN’s experience, customer service and technologies are second to none,” Mr Leipnik said. “We looked at other vendors, however, CENTAMAN’S international experience in the zoos and aquarium space and their ability to provide a world-class product backed by superior ongoing support made it an easy decision for us.”
“With an expectation of over 722,000 visitors a year, implementing easy to use ticketing software and hardware and accessing fast and reliable entry ticket printing whether it’s at home for visitors or tour operators prior to coming to the Aquarium or upon arrival, will be essential to making the visitor experience flow smoothly.” He advised.
Mike Korbel, Centaman’s VP Attractions, is equally excited for the partnership.
“Welcoming the Cairns Aquarium to our growing client base is very exciting for Centaman,” Mr Korbel said. “Cairns Aquarium management went through a rigorous selection process before ultimately selecting us. This provides us with further validation that the solutions we provide continue to be at the forefront of the attractions market.”
